Quek Ling Kiong Arts and Culture Scholarship

A group of alumni and well-wishes have come together to establish a scholarship in support of students who endeavour to pursue a career in the Arts Management field, with a focus on traditional arts. This scholarship is dedicated to SMU Chinese Orchestra (SMUCO) Founding Music Director cum Conductor, Mr Quek Ling Kiong, for his tremendous contribution to the orchestra and the local arts scene. The group has pooled together a seed funding for the scholarship and hope to invite more like-minded donors to support this initiative in creating a legacy to support students pursuing their dream in this field.

Mr Quek Ling Kiong is an acclaimed conductor and educator whose passion and dedication towards the arts have developed many young individuals in the past decades. He is currently the Resident Conductor of Singapore Chinese Orchestra, Music Director of Singapore Youth Chinese Orchestra, Principal Conductor of Ding Yi Music Company and Artistic Director of The Purple Symphony. The award will include a mentoring component, which Mr Quek will be involved in shaping the scholarship and mentoring the recipients.
