Leading Conversations on The Future of Governance

Participants from The first roundtable, held on 16 January 2020.

Made possible by a generous contribution from Microsoft, the SMU-Microsoft Asian Dialogue on AI Governance aims to provide a framework for engaging the governance of AI technologies from an Asian perspective.

Hosted by the Centre for AI and Data Governance at SMU, the inaugural roundtable for the SMU-Microsoft Asian Dialogue on AI Governance was held in January 2020 as a comprehensive deepdive to help identify future discussion topics.

The Dialogue will be held over a series of roundtables to target specific challenges for AI governance, culminating in a high-level symposium to be held at SMU with government, industry, community, and multi-partner stakeholder involvement to present the findings and papers written by the participants.

The Dialogue brings together a multi-disciplinary group of researchers on AI governance from academic institutions from across the region, including SMU School of Law, ANU College of Law, Centre for Communication Governance at National Law University, Delhi, Law and Technology Centre, HKU, Peking University, Seoul National University, The University of Tokyo, and Tsinghua University.
