Ways to Give
We invite you to invest in the future with us through your generosity and philanthropy. Your gifts will help fulfil bold aspirations for our students, faculty and the community around us.
Types of Gifts
Take a look at the various ways in which you can give to the work that we do at SMU. Be in through a one-time term or endowed gift, recurring gifts or planned giving to leave a legacy, our giving consultants will be able to walk alongside you at every step of the way.
Endowed Gifts
Utilising income from the donated capital sum to support the chosen purpose of the benefactor’s gift – in perpetuity – whilst the capital sum is preserved.
Without a doubt, this gift enables me to make more meaningful use of my time at SMU. My family and I worry less about finances and can spend more quality time together. Even when I stumble upon challenges, I am aware that many are supporting me and rooting for me.
As someone who grew up in a low-income household with my mother being the sole breadwinner, the amount of financial freedom that this bursary will provide will be immensely life changing. This is the first time in my life I foresee I am able to focus wholly on my studies without having to take on part-time jobs concurrently to support my family.
Term Gifts
Utilising the entire capital sum for the gift purpose. The term gift ceases to exist after the capital sum is spent.

Recurring Gifts
Recurring gifts provide a consistent and stable stream of income towards SMU's fundraising efforts.
Ever since receiving the Kwa Geok Choo Scholarship, I have been focused on improving myself. I participated in various case competitions where I have gained invaluable knowledge and experience outside of the legal industry.
The bursary reduced my burden worrying over school expenses. I have more time to devote to my studies, join various CCAs and go for mentoring sessions to learn more and find my ikigai.
Planned Giving
Planned giving, also known as legacy giving, is a gift created at present to be realised in the future after the donor passes on.
