Empowerment Begins With Access
-
“We want to send a message to all Singaporean students that they should never be shy or have second thoughts about going to university because of financial circumstances.”
Mr Suhaimi Zainul-Abidin
Director, Quantedge FoundationSMU and the Quantedge Foundation are taking bold steps to really ensure that a quality education is accessible to all. Called the SMU Access scheme, recipients will have their full tuition fees covered while they complete their studies at SMU, and is a first of its kind here in Singapore.
The scheme is seed-funded by an endowed gift of $8 million from local charity, Quantedge Foundation.
The scholarship component of the scheme, known as the Quantedge Foundation Scholarship, is given to eligible students who demonstrate strong academic potential. Launched in 2017 with 19 students, the scholarship will be given to 20 freshmen each academic year.
The Quantedge Foundation is a philanthropic foundation established by Quantedge Capital, an alternative investment asset manager that counts several members of its senior management as alumni of SMU.
