Gifts that Give Back
-
The Tzu Chi-SMU Bursary provides financial support to deserving full-time SMU undergraduates to help them enjoy a well-rounded university experience. The bursary was launched in 2014 with eight students, and has since touched the lives of 64 students*.
Working closely with the Tzu Chi Foundation, the university reviews each applicant to ensure they are provided with not only financial help, but also emotional and moral support for them and their families.
A unique aspect of the partnership is the opportunity for recipients to give back to the community by volunteering with the Tzu Chi Foundation. There, the recipients experience how their involvement benefits and positively impact the lives of others.
Through the bursary, the Tzu Chi Foundation aims to imbue education with love and gratitude. They hope to create a harmonious and peaceful society through providing support for people in need, and making the world a better place to live.
