To encourage more students to pursue a career in the field of Arts Management, particularly for traditional arts, SMU Chinese Orchestra (SMUCO) alumnus assistant conductor, Heng Xiang Le (BSc (Econ), 2013) rallied a group of alumni and well-wishers together to establish the Quek Ling Kiong Arts and Culture Scholarship. Dedicated to SMUCO Founding Music Director cum Conductor, Mr Quek Ling Kiong, the scholarship is awarded to full-time SMU undergraduates who wish to pursue a career in Arts and Cultural Management, and will also include a mentoring component. As an acclaimed conductor and educator whose passion and dedication towards the arts have developed many young individuals in the past decades, Mr Quek will also be involved in shaping the scholarship and mentoring recipients..
