Chairman of the Board of Trustees, SMUSince its establishment in 2012, the Ho Rih Hwa Leadership in Asia Public Lecture Series has captivated members of the public, students and political leaders alike.
The well-known lecture series was established by philanthropist Mrs Ho Lien Fung in memory of her late husband, former Singapore Ambassador and successful businessman Mr Ho Rih Hwa.
Each year sees a renowned speaker take to the stage.
In 2018, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, political reformist and Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia (1993 – 1998) was invited for the robust question-and-answer session moderated by SMU Chairman Mr Ho Kwon Ping.
Datuk Seri Anwar regaled the audience with his journey as a politician in Malaysia, and how he overcame the many challenges that were in his path. His thoughts on a wide range of topics, from Singapore-Malaysia relations, to his personal mantra and his candid views on the aim of education, inspired all.
