Motivating Students with Tan Joo Kee Scholarship Fund Bursary

The Tan Joo Kee Scholarship Fund was established in 2011 by a bursary trust founded by the late Tan Joo Kee. To date, the fund has supported 91 students with the Tan Joo Kee Scholarship Fund Bursary at Singapore Management University.

In 2022, an additional contribution was generously made by the donor. The renewed support will provide 12 SMU undergraduates in need of financial assistance with bursaries valued at $2,500 each. These deserving undergraduates typically demonstrate a strong CCA record, evidence of community involvement and proven leadership qualities. The bursary aims to motivate full-time undergraduates in any degree programme to achieve all-round excellence.

“With this bursary, I would be able to pursue my passions with less stress on my family and myself, knowing that my tuition fees have been defrayed by your generous bursary. It has greatly improved my daily life, mental well-being, and family financial situation, resulting in a greater ability to focus and do well in school. I hope to be able to lighten another student’s load, as you have mine, in the future.”

“Being awarded this bursary has been a huge relief as we no longer need to worry about earning extra money to pay off the school fees for each academic term. The bursary has lifted a huge burden from my father who has always held on to the strong belief that he must support me in furthering my studies. This award has strengthened my motivation to stay focused on my academics and actively take on new opportunities to shape and better my skills so that I can use them to aid my future career and achieve my aspirations.”
