SMU celebrates its 21st birthday – reiterating the University’s three strategic priorities of digital transformation, sustainable living, and growth in Asia
The Singapore Management University (SMU) marked the 21st anniversary of its founding on SMU Patron’s Day (PD), on Friday, 29 January 2021. At the event, SMU President Professor Lily Kong said in her address that SMU has entered “adulthood” with much energy and zest, and is optimistic about the future. She also said that the Covid-19 pandemic has impacted the whole world and SMU is even more convinced now that its three strategic priorities of digital transformation, sustainable living, and growth in Asia for the university’s next phase of growth, is a step taken in the right direction.
In a pre-recorded video, Singapore President Halimah Yacob, who is also SMU Patron, praised SMU for rising to the ranks of one of the top universities in Asia in the short time span since its establishment. President Halimah also acknowledged SMU’s commitment in preparing its students for the challenges in the post-Covid era.
