SMU receives S$612K donation from law firm

Global law firm Jones Day has donated US$500,000 to SMU to set up the Jones Day Professorship of Commercial Law for seven years. It is the largest donation by a law firm in SMU's history. Professor Adrian Briggs from the University of Oxford has been appointed the first Jones Day Professor of Commercial Law, and he will oversee the development of Commercial Law concepts at SMU . Dean of SMU School of Law Professor Yeo Tiong Min expressed his gratitude to Jones Day and added that SMU's location makes it an ideal place to develop commercial laws.
