“At Deloitte, we believe in employing well-rounded individuals who display excellence not only in an academic perspective but in their other co-curricular activities. We introduced the Deloitte’s Inspire Awards to recognize these exemplary students who display outstanding achievements in the field of Sports, the Arts and Community Work. Congratulations to the Inspire Awards winners!” said Seah Gek Choo, Deloitte Singapore’s Talent Partner.

On 6 June 2014, Deloitte held an award ceremony at Kallang Bowl, Kallang Leisure Park, to celebrate the accomplishments of the Inspire Award winners who have made outstanding contributions in the areas of sports, the arts or community work. Congratulations to these winners from Singapore Management University (SMU): Eng Jia Yin Natalie, Goh Hong Wen, Lam Peiyi Terena, Lau Tai Wai David, Ong Zi Hui, Peter Chua Bi Ye, Siddiq Poh Bin Shahabidin Abdullah, Teng Yi Tong and Mok Zhi Wei, who are currently doing their summer internship at Deloitte.

It was an afternoon of networking and fun where the winners bonded with their peers and fellow colleagues over some food and drinks as well as a bowling session. Seah Gek Choo, Deloitte Singapore’s Talent Partner, presented the Inspire Award winners with a special certificate of achievement, along with a cash prize of $500. Lam Peiyi Terena and Siddiq Poh Bin Shahabidin Abdullah (not pictured in the group photo), were unable to attend the award ceremony and received the award separately from Deloitte Singapore’s HR Senior Manager, Felicitas Chia.

"I am really grateful to Deloitte for selecting me as the recipient of this generous award. An award like this not only motivates and encourages students like me to pursue our passions outside academics, but it also stresses the importance of a holistic education – something I always believed in. I hope that other students will also be inspired to do the same. Thank you once again Deloitte,” said Deloitte Inspire Gold Award recipient, Samantha Chua.

"I sincerely like to thank Deloitte for the coveted acknowledgment of my activities in school. They have allowed me to grow as an individual because I am able to learn much more from each experience that I go through as compared to just focusing on studies alone. On behalf of the other award recipients,  I would like to express my utmost gratitude towards Deloitte for having this award as I find it very meaningful to emphasise on the importance of the holistic development of an individual.  Besides, everyone could do with some inspiration in their lives to push them forward. As mentioned in my interview when asked what I would do with my award, I hope to be able to inspire people to believe in themselves and push themselves further because then and only then, will we be able to grow outside our comfort zones and achieve much more than we can ever imagine. Thank you Deloitte for affirming me and giving me that push! In Nelson Mandela’s words, it always seems impossible until it is done," added Deloitte Inspire Award recipient, Eng Jia Xin Natalie.

"“It was an extreme privilege for me to be a recipient of the Deloitte Inspire Award. As a student, studying hard and achieving good grades is our priority and it is not easy for one to be motivated towards pursuing his interests. With the award, Deloitte shows me that they appreciate students who strives for excellence in all areas, and it also provides us with the confidence and tenacity to continue striving ahead in our passions,” said Deloitte Inspire Award recipient, Lau Tai Wai David.

"I would like to express my appreciation to Deloitte for granting me this award. The internship with Deloitte was definitely a great experience and I am really grateful to be given this opportunity. Being a student who is active in CCAs, I am really glad that Deloitte recognises my non-academic achievements and this motivates me to push myself to excel further in life. Moving forward, I will strive to achieve podium finishes for the upcoming sailing regattas and lifeguard competitions that I am joining. Once again, thank you Deloitte for this opportunity," added Deloitte Inspire Award recipient, Ong Zi Hui.

"I am very thankful for the Deloitte Inspire Award given by Deloitte & Touche LLP. This Award not only encourages me to push myself further but also reminds me to continue to give back to the community that has given numerous opportunities. Further, this award has also given me an internship to better understand the accounting profession in Deloitte," shared another Deloitte Inspire Award recipient, Goh Hong Wen.

"I am really honored for receiving this award and I hope that my spirit of pursuing a holistic education will serve as an inspiration to my fellow peers," said Deloitte Inspire Award recipient, Tan Siong Kai.
