Senior Realtor Sets Up Bond-Free Scholarship and Bursary with $54,000

The Steve Tay Scholarship and Steve Tay Bursary were established in 2019 to enable less privileged students to enjoy a fulfilling university life that is free from financial worry. The bond-free scholarship and bursary, which offers financial support towards the recipients’ annual tuition fees and other study-related expenses, is valued at $12,000 and $6,000 respectively and offered to all full time undergraduates at SMU.

Steve is currently Senior Associate Vice President of Sotheby International Realty. He is a specialist in luxury homes and a trusted realtor to the well-heeled. Steve has always been looking for the right platform to give and the opportunity came about when he was introduced to SMU. "You don’t have to be rich to help somebody. Anybody can and should do it. Giving back is as good for me as it is for those I am helping, because giving gives me purpose. When I have a purpose driven life, it fuels my motivation towards my business, to do well and be able to pay it forward and enable our undergrads to pave their path to give value back to society in their own ways”" he said.
