Celebrating Five Years Of Championing Family Business In Asia

  • “BFI is grateful to our Founding and Alliance Families, who have, from the beginning, believed in the immense value that such an Institute can bring to business families in the region and beyond.”
    Professor Annie Koh
Vice President, Office of Business Development and Academic Director, Business Families Institute, SMU

To mark the occasion of their 5th Anniversary, the SMU Business Families Institute (BFI) released a book at its celebration gala dinner revealing untold stories and insights from various business families, and sheds light on how and why family businesses prevail during tough economic times.

Titled “The 4Gs of Business Families”, the book features interviews with 34 business families from 10 countries across the world, and was made possible via a 3-year research grant from Deloitte Private.

More than just driving research, the BFI and its events create important platforms and networks that bring family entrepreneurs together, and spur new discussions and ideas. It is therefore heartening that the anniversary dinner saw a collective donation of $800,000 put towards BFI’s excellent work.
