Dato' Kho Hui Meng's gift of "Untitled" by Rotraut at the SMU School of Law

Dato’ Kho Hui Meng has generously donated a fourth sculpture, entitled "Untitled" by Rotraut. It is located at the entrance of SMU’s School of Law, and was unveiled on 15 August 2019. Dato’ Kho has previously donated “Sitting on History” by Bill Woodrow in February 2017 and "97.5° Arc x 8" by Bernar Venet both located within SMU Campus Green and "Bright Idea" by Michael Craig-Martin in August 2017 located at the Lee Kong Chian School of Business.

The sculpture “Untitled” created in 2010 by Rotraut Klein-Moquay, known by the mononym Rotraut, is a 3-metre-high bright red painted aluminum sculpture, created in a single moment, during which the artist releases liquid plaster from a bottle through a quick motion of her hand and body. After falling into shape, the material instantly hardens. This singular event, repeated hundreds of times, often likened to the 'Big Bang'. With every shape and color, Rotraut's art, guided by the intuitive power of her body and the conscious affirmation of her mind, is a celebration of life. She is a German-French visual artist and widow of French artist Yves Klein.
