A Vibrant Learning Environment

  • “The two sculptures add expressiveness to our learning spaces. They are landmark sculptures that inspire thought, conversation and the coming together of minds.”
    Soong Jia Wei
Undergraduate, Lee Kong Chian School of Business, SMU

SMU’s Campus Green received a much-welcomed gift thanks to the generosity of Dato’ Kho Hui Meng – a new sculpture that brings to life the SMU Campus, whilst also reflecting the creativity, imagination and expressive nature of the university’s people and culture.

Dato’ Kho, who is the President of Oil Trading at Vitol Asia Pte Ltd, donated the “97.5° Arc x 8” sculpture by Bernar Venet - a towering work of art that conveys the interconnectedness between nature, humanity and the universe. Its unique name is derived from the precise measurements of the angle of the sculpture’s components.

This is the second sculpture within the Campus Green that was donated by Dato’ Kho.

The third sculpture, by Craig Martin is titled “Bright Ideas”, and aims to transforms the way we perceive everyday objects. It acts as a catalyst for self-reflection, inspiring our community to reframe issues and challenge the way it thinks about the issues and environments around us.
